Simon Platten is Director of Tamar Grow Local (TGL) a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) based on the Devon and Cornwall border of south-west England. TGL supports a network of over 90 food enterprises in the region and uses the internationally respected Open Food Network’s open source software to market their locally grown and seasonal food produce. TGL uses complex systems theory to help develop an understanding of how food business enterprises materialise, adapt, grow and collapse/fragment. In partnership with the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, Simon is currently working with a range of other local food networks in the UK to develop emerging practice that focuses on resilience issues and the scaling and temporal dynamics of regenerative food enterprises.
